Gucci SS17 back embroidered “Modern Future” Crewneck. “Modern Future” was a slogan used throughout SS17 and the words were plastered on bags, sweats and jackets. Even Alessandro Michele really didn’t resonate with the words so I’m guessing it has something to do with the season’s retro theming and romantic clash of garments from a myriad of cultures… which makes it futuristic? Gucci tends to introduce a lot of these words without context or reason, perhaps it may be some kind of abstract language that resonates with wearers that relate to the text, who knows. It may be an ironic play on garments that just throw words on clothing for the textual design aspect. Whatever it means Alessandro Michele is Definitely the “future” for Gucci as he continues to blur the line between men’s and women’s runway.

This, as with many UC pieces, is inspired by and borrow elements from music, mostly punk and post rock. This is the 20th season for Raf Simons and he initially sought to pay a tribute to his revered past collections but he and his team simply didn't feel that it was "relevant" to do anything old, instead opted to keep doing something new. This however was an homage to his influences Helmut Lang and Maison Margiela. Fits a little big, material is thin but not transparent as picture suggests (we're getting to fix the lighting issues), soft. High quality silk print on bank with "RS" signature logo patch sewn on back.
